Level 4 is Here!


Finally, we have some new content for you all. This one's hard, so it should tide you over until we can complete level 5 :)

Level 4

This level introduces a new mechanic that inverts the player's keyboard input at certain points during the level. This is quite tricky to deal with at speed, even more so if you've already built up a lot of muscle memory from playing the other levels - it forces you to slow your brain down and make conscious decisions again, rather than relying on unconscious reflex. It feels very disorienting at first, but once you start to get the hang of it it's quite satisfying.

Along with the introduction of this new level, we're disabling Level 3 in the demo build. We'll do the same with each new level we bring out from now. Players can still play older levels if they have an older version already downloaded, but we won't keep the older versions up on itch. All 7 levels will be available in the full Steam release.

Other stuff

  • Fixed a collision bug that sometimes caused the player to get an erroneous 'game over' if they hit the rear side of a wall
  • Added input inversion options in settings menu
  • Fixed issues with misaligned mouse collisions in main menu after changing screen resolution
  • Added an effect to level select screen to highlight important information

Unfortunately, neither Chipzel nor Bossfight want to have their music in the game, so we're currently looking for talented chiptune artists who could help us make a completely new soundtrack for the Steam release. If you are one, or know one, get in touch with us at contact.coregames@gmail.com.
